The Victoria Park Centenary Walk project is a major project to create a processional way from the London Road park gates and lodges to the war memorial. In addition to the tree lined avenue it also includes remodeling and extending the car parking area, the repair and restoration of the park gates, improvements to the sports facilities nearby, and the provision of a new toilet block for park users.
Planning for this project started some years ago with public consultations carried out in 2013.
The toilet block was the first part of the project to be completed, with the main work on the processional way itself starting in 2016. The original schedule was for all work to be completed by the end of 2016 but subsequent delays mean it will not be fully completed until 2017.
