Policing and Safety
There is a police office on the park in the pavilion building next to the changing room entrances. This office does not have regular opening times but if the lights are on and the blinds are up it means a police officer is present and available.
The police officers for the park are part of the local Clarendon Park dedicated neighbourhood team. Their email contact is firstname.lastname@example.org. Messages will be forwarded to the local officers, but this should not be used for emergencies.
The current local officers are Sgt Jodie White PS 4753 , Matt Linnell PC 2114, Amergit Sanghera PCSO 6614, and Zahid Ahmed PCSO 6675.
These officers also take responsibility for the university campus and they liaise with the student union, student welfare, and the university security team on a regular basis.
The local police also have a twitter page @LPclarendonpark as well as a Facebook page called Clarendon Park and Campus Cops which contain local information for the park and surrounding area.
If there is an emergency on the park the number to call is 999 on any phone, or you can use 112 on a mobile. For non-emergencies the police number is 101.
Safety on the park
Victoria Park is not a high crime area, but as with all parks and open spaces it makes sense to take care of the safety of yourself and your belongings. During the hours of darkness there are well-lit paths across the park. These should always be used if you have to cross the park at night, and the car park and surrounding area will have improved lighting when the Centenary Walk project is completed. CCTV covers parts of the park including the cycleway and footpath from Queen’s Road to the university, parts of Coach Drive, the car parking area and the toilet block.
